As you may know, the U.S. Government introduced a program called 'Secure Flight' in August 2009. This program, run by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) (http://link.aa.com/r/UWL34C/RTLP0/5M7VVP/VHMX6K/5X4GT/94/t) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), requires American Airlines to collect and transmit Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD). Secure Flight is designed to enhance the security of domestic and international  commercial air travel by streamlining the DHS watch list matching process.  The next phase in this program requires that effective November 1, all passengers have Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD) in their reservation at least 72 hours prior to departure. You will be unable to travel without providing this information. How will this affect you? In compliance with this mandate, you will be required to provide Secure Flight Passenger Data (full name, date of birth, gender and redress number*, if applicable):Q: What is a Redress Number?A: A Redress Number is a TSA issued code assigned to certain passengers whose names have erroneously appeared on the watch list.
